Overview
This is the area for managing your membership types for your club.
When you go to Membership>Types you will see the following layout:
The columns are fairly self explanatory apart from the interaction of the last two items ‘Active’ and ‘No new registrations’ which relate to whether a membership appears on the website and if it continues to apply recurring billing.
Membership Types
The Vorple system comes with 9 pre-configured membership types, one which is essential to how the system works, and the others which cover the usual variation of options for membership payment periods.
Complimentary | This is an optional Membership type that you can apply to students if you wish. It is renewed yearly and has no cost associated to it by default. |
Annual Membership | If you want to take cash per class for students that are irregular attendees, this option allows you to automate a yearly ‘Club membership’ payment. The advantage of this is that it is a low cost entry point for a prospective student, which gets them registered on to your club so that you can maintain communication with them via the email/text notifications. |
Junior | A monthly recurring fee membership specifically for junior members, with no fixed term. This allows you to separate the reporting and registration for better management of the younger members, as well as offering a ‘no tie in’ |
Monthly – ad-hoc | A monthly recurring fee membership with no fixed term. This is typically at a higher price point as it is a ‘no tie in’ membership going month to month. |
Monthly – Yearly Subscription | A monthly recurring fee membership with a fixed term of a year, which is typically set at a lower price point than the ‘Monthly ad-hoc’ as there is a guaranteed revenue stream over a longer period. |
Provisional | This is a system membership type specifically for students joining via a ‘Basic Course’ or ‘Intro course’. When they initially sign up, they are given this membership type automatically and are retired as inactive once the course is over, until they subsequently register with an ‘official’ membership. See ‘Status – Inactive‘ for more info. |
Six months | A six monthly recurring fee membership with no fixed term. This is typically at a lower average price point as it is a larger value payment. |
Three months | A three monthly recurring fee membership with no fixed term. This is typically at a lower average price point as it is a larger value payment. |
Yearly | A twelve monthly recurring fee membership with no fixed term. This is typically the lowest average price point as it is a highest value payment. |
Create / Edit a Membership Type
If you click on the pen icon and edit one of the memberships you will see the following:
Fields
Membership Name – Internal only to help you give a name to each membership
‘Description 1‘, ‘Description 2‘ and ‘Unit cost‘ – automatically added to the website membership page like this:
Club – The identity of the club that these memberships relate to (i.e. yours!)
Membership price – (optional extra) this is an option that you can have applied to the website that adds an initial ‘Membership sign up fee’ to the initial sign up process.
Active – If ticked, then this membership is viewable on the website, new students can subscribe to this membership type and pre-existing memberships of this type will have scheduled recurring membership payments taken. If this is not ticked, it is not viewable, cannot be registered on and pre-existing memberships of this type will not have scheduled recurring membership payments taken.
No new registrations – This modifies the ‘Active’ Check box above. If this is ticked and ‘Active’ is ticked, then this membership type will not be viewable on the website and not avilable for new students to register on. However pre-existing memberships of this type will have their scheduled recurring membership payments taken.
Mailchimp List – (optional extra) If you have a mailchimp account then you can register it with the Vorple system and link each membership type to a specific mailchimp list to enable the easy management and auto sending of key content by email when new students sign up.
Vouchers
When you click on ‘Add new voucher’ you are presented with a simple Voucher Code name and amount box:
As explained above – it is important to note here that the ‘Unit Amount’ is the value of the membership after the voucher has been applied, and not a discount amount or percentage.
In the example above, the Voucher code ‘code_test’ should change the ‘Monthly Membership’ fee from £55 to £48.
When applied correctly on the website, you will get a validation message and the monthly fee will change:
